The 15,000 square foot sanctuary and social hall building at Temple Beth Shalom offers a variety of settings for our community gatherings and are available to rent to the public.
A bright and spacious lobby provides a warm introduction to our building, while helping large crowds flow into the sanctuary and social hall. The lobby can be used for smaller events, such as classes and informal gatherings. It also connects to the school building, allowing easy access for religious school and early childhood program. The lobby and sanctuary are joined by a vestibule designed to transition visitors from the din of the everyday world into the sacred space of the sanctuary. There is a Yahrzeit memorial wall, as well as a niche with service programs, tallitot and kipot available for use during our services.
Our formal sanctuary, with seating for 225 people, is arranged to convey feelings of intimacy and community. The sleek lines of the raised bema provide a beautiful setting for our ark, which holds our Torah scrolls. Its spiritual atmosphere is enhanced by a soaring, twenty-six foot ceiling and hidden windows that flood the bema with ambient light. An attached family room allows parents to hear and see the service while attending to infants and small children. Our sanctuary and social hall are separated by a movable, acoustically-rated partition. When the partition is open for High Holidays and other large functions, the building has total capacity of 850 seats.
Additional temple amenities include; an outdoor courtyard where we build our sukkah, and host religious school and social functions, a large parking lot, and a relatively flat property, easily navigated by people with limited mobility.
Our social hall, lobby area and kitchen are available for rent. The lobby is bright and spacious and accommodates crowds in a number of ways. The social hall is a large, wonderful multi-purpose space that can accommodate 200 people seated banquet-style at tables, with additional space for a dance floor. The kitchen has professional equipment for full service catering and an outside loading dock. We have a state-of-the-art sound system for speaking and performance events which runs throughout the sanctuary and social hall. We provide tables and chairs for these rooms. We have additional items available for a small additional price, such as a digital projector and a 20′ x 20′ maple dance floor. All of our spaces are available to be rented both by Temple Beth Shalom members and non-members and community organizations.
