High Holy Days Music

Lena Goldstein is thrilled to be joining her Temple Beth Shalom family, Rabbi Goldstein, and the Annapolis Chorale as our cantorial soloist for High Holy Days services. She graduated cum laude from Yale University, where she performed regularly with the Opera Theatre of Yale College, Yale Undergraduate Chamber Orchestra, Yale Baroque Opera Project, and Yale Glee Club. She is currently pursuing her Master’s in Music Performance in Voice at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music.

J. Ernest Green is the Artistic Director and Conductor of the Annapolis Chorale and Chamber Orchestra. He has an active career as a guest conductor and lives in Severna Park with his wife Molly and their children Alec and Ella and their black lab Kensi. He has brought his wide knowledge of both sacred and secular music to enhance our High Holy Days services for the past 16 years, generously coaching and guiding our cantors, student cantors, choir members, and members of the Annapolis Chorale.

Singer and pianist Laurie J. Hays directs the women’s ensemble, Cantori, with Live Arts Maryland, is on the music staff at St. Anne’s Episcopal Church in Annapolis, and is a collaborative pianist and accompanist. She lives in Severn, MD with her husband, Kevin, and two dogs. Over the years of her participation at Temple Beth Shalom, she has had many roles, including directing the singers outside the sanctuary building during covid while the rabbi and cantor sang inside. This year, Laurie will serve as our pianist on Rosh HaShanah.

Pianist Erica Rome is based in Baltimore and her recent work includes The Park School of Brooklandville, MD, Annapolis Chorale, the Young Victorian Theatre Company (Baltimore), Victorian Lyric Opera Company (Rockville, MD) and Washington College (Chestertown, MD). Erica founded BaltiQWERT (a bi-annual all-day Gilbert and Sullivan singing event in Baltimore) in 2009. Erica holds degrees from Oberlin College, Oberlin Conservatory of Music, the New England Conservatory of Music, and the Manhattan School of Music.
